My personal web OS. Not a product. Not a startup. Just a workspace I built so I could stop using 47 browser tabs at once.
It runs in your browser. Everything saves locally. Nothing goes to a server.
Every icon on the desktop is draggable. Just click and drag it to where you want it. It'll stay there next time you open tashOS — positions are saved per-icon in localStorage.
Double-tap any icon to open the app. Single tap selects it.
Every app opens in a draggable window. You can move them by grabbing the title bar. You can minimize them to the taskbar at the bottom, and maximize them to fill the whole screen.
Windows stack on top of each other. Click one to bring it to the front.
Hit Ctrl + Space to open the command center. Type the name of any app to open it instantly. You can also trigger system actions like toggling dark/light mode or reloading.
Arrow keys navigate, Enter opens. Escape closes it.
Open Settings (⚙️) to change things around. There's actually a decent amount you can do:
In Settings, there's a "Web Shortcuts" section. Drop in a name and URL and it shows up on your desktop like a regular icon. Click it — it opens in a new tab.
The icon automatically grabs the site's favicon. Remove anytime from the same settings panel.
Garage Log
Track drives, mods, and service for the M4. Personal console style.
Projects
A list of things I've built. Mostly for my own reference.
Files
Simple text files that save to localStorage. Not Notion, but it works.
Quick Notes
One textarea, auto-saves. Good for quick thoughts while working.
Settings
Customize your workspace. Theme, wallpapers, clock format, and shortcuts.
Terminal
Run basic commands and do math right from a command line interface.
This whole thing is just HTML, CSS and vanilla JS. No frameworks, no build step. If something looks broken it probably is — I'm still building this.
Hit the button or press Space to start using it.
This screen won't show again (unless you clear localStorage).
